time closes in on me again

My favourite kind of Saturday is when there is nothing to do and I can sit in the conservatory for hours in the morning, browsing the internet, reading other people’s blogs, drinking too much coffee (how is that possible?) and watching the cats go in and out.
Today I have to be in town by 12 to meet a friend for lunch and then we’re going to a work-related event together. It will be fun but it puts a time limit on my chilling out, and that’s a bit annoying whatever the reason for it.
I’ve already written a chunk of my NaNoWriMo novel this morning so I don’t need to feel guilty about that at least. There’s no scope for guilt anyway since I am within 4,000 words of completion and still quite a bit ahead of schedule. I even had time to go over what I had already written and make a list of chapters and notes about what happens in them. Some people would do this ahead of the actual writing, but I like the novel to take me by surprise. The reason for making the list of chapters was that I had lost track of which character knew what about events so far, and I needed to know how much one character had to explain to another before I carried on writing.
I’ve already identified an area where I have to go back and fill in more detail, but I won’t do this until I have safely passed the 50,000 word mark. I like to be able to write ‘The End’ to signify the end of the story before I validate my novel on the NaNoWriMo website.
Weather in Edinburgh today: sunny, blue skies, not bad for November!
